This is one of Donald Ross's most famous and highly-revered course designs; Inverness opened in 1918 and hosted their first U.S. Open just two years later. Architects George and Tom Fazio redesigned holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 in 1978. Then in 1999, Toledo-based architect Arthur Hills oversaw the lengthening of the course to 7,255 yards. Since opening, Inverness has hosted seven USGA championships, two PGAs, and two NCAA championships. The club will host the USGA Junior Amateur Championship, July 15-20, 2019.
