1st and only Golf Trip of 2012 - Cornwall Links in November - what will the weather bring? Full match summaries to follow but in summary HGW fought back from 1.5 point deficit after the first 2 matches, to win 4.5 points from 5 remaining to take a 4.5 to 2 victory. A comeback to match the Europeans at Medinah..? Maybe not, but pretty impressive golf played and a worth win over a shabby RIA. 2012 Scoreboard: Rich 7 Hugh 4.5 12/6/12

More retro updating – a 31 hole outing over Frilford Heath 23rd June 2012 Opening on Green, HGW kept trying to get away from RIA, three times opening up a 1 hole lead. Successive fight backs from RIA left the match all square at the 1st turn. We’ve been here before! A change of fortune found RIA doing the same on the back 9 getting a 2 shot lead on two occasions before HGW delivered his usual solid par on 18 to reign RIA in to a 1 hole lead heading off to the 1st tee on Red Course. A solid start for RIA over the front 9 with 2 better than level 2’s left him 4 holes up at the turn. HGW couldn’t muster a counter-assault on a round cut short due to heavy rain – with RIA taking a (hollowish) victory 5&3 (4 up after 13). 2012 Scoreboard: Rich 5 Hugh 0 12/6/12

Some tardy updating – a 27 hole outing over Tyrrells 9th June 2012 Yoyo golf for the 1st 9 left the match all square at the turn. RA started to pull away over the next 6 holes to take a 3 hole lead into the 2nd turn. 3 par opening holes for RA built an unstoppable lead to win 7 & 5 over 27 holes. 2012 Scoreboard: Rich 4 Hugh 0 12/6/12

First “away” course for this year’s Meme Chose : Old Course, Walton Heath Weather: cold, misty, windy and a bit more cold. Course in good nick – though the greens had been treated and were quite sandy. But still, championship golf on a Ryder Cup course. Golf, isn’t it? A close match in the most part with the lead swinging between both players as HGW and RIA traded blows for the front 9. Anderson then started to pull away over the back 9 with only 2 dropped shots over holes the 10 – 16, sealing victory on the 15th green 4&3. Pint of top and a big bowl of crisps in the 19th to celebrate/commiserate before the Mogul Dynasty beckoned. A rather “spicy” Easter weekend followed. 2012 Scoreboard: Rich 3 Hugh 0 4/10/12

Think I'm finally getting the hang of this skycaddie thing, almost managed to delete my account this morning... Williams lost - baaaahhhhh 4/7/12

The first Meme Chose outing around Tyrrells for some while followed a typical curry the night before. A nervous start from both on the 1st may have had something to do with indigestion from a speedy bacon bap before the off. Halved. The next 5 holes saw RIA go 3 up. A majestic chip in from a bunker on 7 for par was the start of a Williams come back. back to 1 down after 8. RA won the 9th to go back to 2. Tit for tat saw the lead extend to 3, back to 1, then to 2 and back to all square going up the 17th. RIA managed the green in regulation after a topped drive and took the hole. A further unorthodox par on the last sealed the win. 2012 Scoreboard: Rich 2 Hugh 0 2/28/12

A bleary-eyed New Year's Day brings the Meme Chose Decanter into 2012 (Still sitting prettyish on DK's sideboard after we kind of lost track in 2011). Quite frankly the Spanish League Gazpacho Bowl in July confused matters slightly. So with a one day reprieve on his jelly-like spine, DK capitalised and managed to hold HGW at bay around 18 on Green and 9(+2) on the Red. 2012 Scoreboard: Rich 1 Hugh 0 2/5/12

divotking It appears that your handicap on this site is 12. It appears that mine is 18. Pride is not in my vocabulary (except there) so VERY happy to take shots off you... hgw 6/28/11

divotking tells it like it is. It will be golf, it will be sun (perhaps too much?), it will be beers. After clinging on at Ginger HQ (that's Tyrrells Wood GC) on Saturday am the DK squares up the series/takes a lead/goes behind - frankly I've forgotten the score. Either way it's The Gazpacho Bowl. Hopefully play better than the Gazpacho Bowel. hgw 6/28/11

Looking forward to the Gazpacho Bowl in Murcia in 2 weeks time. The first dedicated Meme Chose matches for a while - diaries have been crazy. Need to kick the arse out of it. Itinerary taking shape: Sun. Golf. Pool. Cervezas. Margaritas. Heth heth heth - heth heth heth. Nice. 6/15/11

Tardy update for the second match Meme Chose - sometime back in March. Can't remember the specifics but essentially The Williams won on his home course after a monster tab the day before (are we in Swindon yet?) producing, blisters, tired feet and stiff backs. And a very tired Mrs A. 2011 Scoreboard: Rich ½ Hugh 1½ 6/15/11

First outing of 2011 (and, for the record, since Nov 2010) for RA and the opening round of Meme Chose 2011 for RA & HW at TWGC - a 27 holer the wish for both. Conditions: unseasonably mild but gusty. And not all of it the curry from the night before. A nervous start for RA with holding clubs feeling quite alien. Off the 1st tee, RA left, HW right - both hoped to meet up on the green. At some point. HW suffered an early shank to lose a ball, RA hacking about in the rough. RA secured the win of the 1st with a 7 - enough said. The golf continued to be "varied" but overall - a shadow of former selves. RA was 3 up after 3. Interesting. At the turn 2 up. A HW rally levelled the match and then went on to a comfy 2 hole lead. From then on nip and tuck, give and take, rally and relent until the last hole was faced - with HW 1 up. Something finally clicked for RA with a straight drive and a par - to take the match to a draw. 2011 Scoreboard : Rich 1/2 Hugh 1/2 1/23/11

2010 Meme Chose Results After some shoddy "diary keeping" from both parties coupled with some December weather rendering golf a distant memory - the final result was.......drum roll....a win and a retention of the new Meme Chose Claret Jug by RA by a final score of 1/23/11

A modestly productive afternoon (following a rather liquid Wednesday - i.e. World Cup session) results in HGW/Moobman getting to grips with the SkyCaddie website as he adds his equimpent list to the pot. Took a view on some aspects as fading eyesight (now James' age) prevented 100% certainly on model numbers. Still not convinced how to manage the whole scoring business (i.e. if you run out of games in hand on the handheld and set it to add a score to the site will the new score overwrite one of the old one??). Also all the stat business leaves me in a tailspin. Aaaaannnnnnnnnyyyyyyway....bring on the MemeChose 2010 Seve style!! 6/24/10

A bleary-eyed start, with some poor golf coming from both players, left RA to forge a surprise lead around the Blue. The Burner was not working off the tee. Sitting pretty with a 4 hole lead at lunch (which RA had been craving since the 6th – shaky arms) RA decided to leave the driver in the bag and play rescue golf. Nailed 2 rescues on the 1st Green to take the hole with a par and go 5 up. And then the matched turned. A less than gracious tumble, matched with HW stepping up to find his game, with an impressive run of pars. RA tried to rally but a par on the 15th was not enough and he found himself 2 down with three to play. The 16th was halved after HW left the winning put 2 inches short leaving the RA facing dormie 2 as the heavens opened, leaving the 17th and 18th a damp prospect. HW & RA continued but 2 fours on the par 3 17th sealed the match for Hugh. The 18th was left untouched as both headed for the refuge of the clubhouse for a gunners and a dry-out. 2010 Scoreboard : Rich 2½ Hugh 1½ 6/14/10

Meme Chose Cup 2010 as at 22/5/10 A 54 hole epic match play around FHGC. Hugh 6 up after 6: a painful awakening to an already hungover start. Rich, who managed to be sitting 4 down after 18 round the Blue, started strongly on the Green. Managed to lift the game back to 2 down whereby Hugh promptly rallied back to 3 then 4up. After another spurt, Rich is 2 down at the 16th tasting victory over the 17th and 18th to bring the match back level. No such luck, Hugh wins both taking him to a 4up after 36 holes lead. Playing the stamina card over the Blue again, Rich plays well (5 over) to bring the game to a dormie 2, and manages good wins on the 8th and 9th Blue (holes 53 and 54). A notable 245yd approach into the 9th green from a short drive sealed the hole win, bringing the match to a spirited draw. 2010 Scoreboard : Rich 2½ Hugh ½. 6/6/10
