Pinon Hills Golf Course
2101 Sunrise Pkwy
Farmington, NM 87401-9277, United States

Pinon Hills opened in 1989 with a design by Ken Dye and was almost immediately deemed "one of the best new desert golf courses" by GolfWorld magazine. At one point, it was ranked the best municipal course in the nation and is still very highly regarded by golf publications and travel writers; GolfWeek ranks Pinon Hills #3 in the state. Shots over sandstone canyons and long arroyos will challenge golfers of all levels, and a surprising amount of water accompanies the sand.

The peak-season non-resident rates are $41 weekdays and $47 weekends; carts are $14/person). Shoulder-season, sliding twililght, and 9-hole rates are offered, as are discounts for residents of San Juan County and the greater Four Corners region.

Pinon Hills is one of the best courses in NM. Design of holes is great with a variety of lengths and shapes. Open fairways but the approaches are the key with big greens but playing small because on multiple tiers. Only negatives, too wet and too many ball marks.
