The original layout was designed by Tex Mcharen, while architect John Cooligan designed three new holes in 2005. The course is of medium length, but a significant amount of OB demands accuracy for good scoring. The clubg annually hosts the San Juan Open in late June, one of the largest professional golf tournaments in the region, and also hosted the 2012 Senior New Mexico Open.
