#18
Prairie Highlands Golf Course
14695 Inverness St
Olathe, KS 66061-6806, United States

913.856.7235
This very popular daily-fee course is very highly regarded by various publications; both Golfweek and Golf Magazine rate PHGC as the #3 public-access course in Kansas. Meanwhile, Golf Digest architecture critic Ron Whitten included this course in a September 2001 article entitled, "What Affordable Golf Should Be."

The course itself was designed by Craig Schreiner, who co-owns the course with David Francis. Wind is the chief challenging outside factor here, demanding a two-club (sometimes three-club) swing. While its rolling terrain is surrounded by prairie (hence the course name) Schreiner designed it to be eminently walkable.

The greens have not held up well with all the rain and the large number of private events played here. They should give out divot tools for free and reinforce to everyone to fix their ball marks on the greens. Especially the event players as most of them do not play very much. Otherwise it is a really nice and challenging course and reasonably priced.
