This extremely picturesque course plays in part on the inside of the extinct Eldfell volcano. Vestmannaeyjar ("Westman Islands Golf Club") was founded in 1938 with six holes and expanded to nine in 1962. But following the eruption of the Eldfell volcano in 1973, the course was slowly reconstructed, with 18 holes completed in 1994.
Not surprisingly, the club hosts the annual Icelandair Volcano Open each July; it has also hosted the Icelandic national championship on several occasions.
Visitors are welcome at ISK 60,000. Hole measurements are in meters.
