The original Donald Ross design opened here in 1922. In 2007 Golf Digest ranked Broadmoor CC as "The Best Private Course in Indianapolis" and also a Top 100 Classic Course in the U.S.

In 2002, the club undertook a full renovation / restoration by Tom Doak and Bruce Hepner of Doak's Renaissance Golf design firm. This includes a new irrigation system, bunker renovation, green shaping/expansions, fairway extensions, and tree reduction.
