West Herts Golf Club
Rousebarn Ln
Croxley Green, F8 WD3 3GG, United Kingdom

West Herts is one of the longest established private members’ clubs, now operating under a Joint User agreement with Watford Borough Council, in the county of Hertfordshire. The parkland-style course is located in Cassiobury Park and has quite an architectural pedigree; Old Tom Morris designed most of the first layout in 1897, although J.H. Taylor was retained to design the bunkers. Following various land purchases and the need to move certain holes, most of the existing course is the result of a remodeling by Alister Mackenzie.

The public is welcome; the non-resident walking rates are £45/round or £65/day on weekdays, then £60/round on weekends and bank holidays. Discounts are available for juniors, Watford residents, and guests of members. Societies are also welcome with prior arrangement.

This course is up there with the best in the UK. The course is not overly long but testing and requires shot shaping. The greeens are possibly the best I have played on in the last 5 years, pick your line put and it stays there. The practice facilities are terrific and easily accessible. The clubhouse and food are superb as well as the very reasonable pricing. If you are looking for a place to play and want a fantastic day you will be hard pushed to find anywhere better.

Really freindly helpful pro shop, offset by some really grumpy senior members. Good condition and one of my favourite local courses.
