Porters Park dates to the early 20th century and a design by J.H. Taylor. A number of changes were made by architect Charles Kenneth Cotton between 1946 and 1969, while former European Tour player Neil Coles has overseen changes to the bunkering. The club hosted regional qualifying course for the Open Championship on six occasions and also is the home of the King George V Coronation Cup for men and the Ladies Centenary Cup.
The club has two practice areas near the 11th fairway and the 17th fairway. They also have a warm-up cage, a short-game practice area with two bunkers, and a practice putting green.
Visitors with a valid golf handicap certificate are welcome at £50/round. Societies are also welcome with prior arrangement.
