FarmLinks at Pursell Farms
2200 Farm Links Blvd
Sylacauga, AL 35151-8281, United States

While this golf course (open six days/week for limited play) is picturesque and contains some dramatic elevation changes (especially at the 5th hole), the chief feature of FarmLinks is that it is a "living golf course laboratory."

Here's the deal: CEO David Pursell, working with noted architects Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, had this course built as a laboratory to test different turfgrasses and equipment. Companies like Toro, Club Car, BASF, and Agrium are partners with FarmLinks.

The club likes to advertise that golfers playing there can encounter a variety of turf and wildlife, but also "an occasional robotic mower and at least one state-of-the-art golf cart." When they are open for public play, the rate is all-inclusive, so lunch, beverages, snacks, unlimited use of the practice facility, and chilled mango-scented towels on hot days are all part of the experience.

They advertise wide fairways and that just what they have. The greens were perfect and every good shot you hit you will be rewarded with a good outcome. Ross Bridge in B'ham will be the only course that will compare.

Outstanding facility and staff, The only thing that makes Bobby mad is if you try to handle your own clubs.

Farmlinks is a MUST play course in Central Alabama. Yeah, you got to drive a little distance to get there, but well worth it. Bar none, one of the BEST courses in Alabama and high on the list in USA.

The course was in great shape. The only negative was the greens was slower. That was different. But they do a great job.

They call it the "experience at Farmlinks." Great title, because it it just that. Great golf, great food, great hospitality. Wish it was a little closer to civilization...but in some ways not being so close adds to its experience too. Gives you time to talk about it with you buds/family when your driving back.
