Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club is a short, hilly, tight, course with fairly tricky greens. This is certainly not a bombers paradise. Club selection off the tee is crucial, unless you can work your drive significantly both ways. The fairways are fairly narrow, so even a good drive down the 'middle' can creep into the rough. On my day of golf, the rough was no picnic. The course is hilly but very walkable, and at least on my day, most of the members walked the course. The trees are varied and beautiful, and you get great views of the valley and south bay. If you have a good driving day here, you'll have mid irons to the greens and a chance to score well. There is no middle ground however, a bad driving day will lead to lots of doubles and higher!
