The course measures a long 6,853 yards from the championship tees (men's part 72.9, 131 slope rating) but can be played as short as 5,277 yards from the gold tees. El Macero has been selected by the USGA to host several USGA qualifying rounds.

Like a traditional links course, there are no adjacent fairways at El Macero. The course meanders through the community of elegant homes. Unlike today's newer golf communities where space is a premium, the homes are set far back from tees, greens and fairways and seldom come into play.
