This course was designed by Willie Dunn, who also designed Shinnecock Hills on Long Island. The course remains much the same today, thanks in part to a restoration overseen by architect Gil Hanse in 2001. Apawamis has hosted the Metropolitan Amateur four times, as well as the 1978 Curtis Cup Matches (U.S. 12, GB&I 6).
