This is a beautiful and interesting course with a mix of relatively easy and relatively difficult holes. Except for holes 8 and 16, which are nearly exactly alike, each hole is unique. While there are no sharp doglegs, there are also no straight holes. The high desert wind, usually around 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, is almost always a factor.

As it is a desert course with no tree lined fairways, the views to the mountains and New Mexico's glorious sky are almost always present. All the fairways are separated by natural high desert vegetation, and balls hit into these areas are often unplayable. Most of the fairways are reasonably wide, and most have bunkers located to catch errant and not-so errant shots. In my experience it plays more like a slope 122 course than a slope 117 course.

The greens are generally true and faster than average; and due to the mountains and nearby terrain, often difficult to read.

I am a senior golfer with a swing speed in the high 80s and most, but not all of the greens are reasonably reachable in regulation for me under normal wind conditions. Birdies are within my reach on several holes and double bogies are not uncommon on an equal amount of holes.

Their are five tee boxes, accommodating all levels of golfers.

My wife and I have played this course many times because we enjoy playing here. Not only do we like the course, but the service is always excellent, the pro is very good and always approachable, the restaurant is more than passable and the weather is accommodating about 8 or 9 months of the year.
