Wild Horse Golf Club
40950 Road 768
Gothenburg, NE 69138-4054, United States

Described as the "Carnoustie of the Corn Belt," Wild Horse allows public play. This is important because several golf publications have lavished praise on Wild Horse, including Golf Digest, Golf Magazine, Golf & Travel, and Golfweek. In 2004, Golf Magazine ranked Wild Horse the country's fourth best $50-or-under course, while Golfweek ranks it 21st on their list of best modern courses in the entire United States. While few of us will ever get to play the private Sand Hills Golf Club (126 miles away in Mullen, Nebraska), Wild Horse offers a very similar links/dunes golf experience.

Tee times can be made up to 14 days in advance. The standard walking rates are $27 Mondays through Thursdays, then $43 on Fridays, weekends and holidays (carts are $14). Juniors and students up to age 22 play for $15 anytime.
