Castle Oaks Golf Club is a Brad Benz design that opened in 1994 around and over Sutter Creek and Mule Creek in Amador County. Golf Digest ranked it the best public course in northern California shortly after it opened.

Situated on the oak-studded Preston Farmlands and overlooked by the Preston School of Industry ("Preston Castle"), the course plays from 5,015 to 6,739 yards.

The standard fees (with cart) are $44 on Mondays through Thursdays, $47 on Fridays, then $53 on weekends and holidays. Junior, twilight, 9-hole, and walking rates are also available.

My favorite course in the Greater Sacramento area, I know it's in Ione, but in the general Sacramento area. Pace of play is always great. Love the fact that no one knows about it or thinks it's too far to go.
