This course is named in memory of Omaha native Johnny Goodman, who was one of the most successful amateur golfers in U.S. history. He is best-known for being the last amateur to win the U.S. Open Championship (1933, North Shore CC in Glenview IL); he also won the 1937 U.S. Amateur Championship and the Trans-Mississippi Amateur in 1927, 1931, and 1935. Goodman was one of only seven golfers ever to eliminate the great Bobby Jones in U.S. Amateur Championship competition.
The course itself is one of three 18-hole courses owned and operated by the Omaha Parks & Recreation Department. Walking rates are $21 weekdays and $27 weekends.
