Built over an old copper smelter site, later an EPA Superfund site, this Jack Nicklaus-designed course is generally regarded as Montana's best public-access course. It also hosted local and regional qualifying for several USGA championships.
The peak-season rates (with cart and range access) range from $50 to $69. Annual passes are also available.

This is a course to put on your bucket list.
Great course, very scenic, have a hard time keeping your mind on golf, lots of wildlife
I had to play it twice while I was in the area.
We were following the final group in a tournament, this is the reason it was a little slow, the second time. the first time I played in a little over 3 hours.

The two best days of golf I have had in a long time. Very playable and outstanding value for money. The black sand is special treat. Wish I could play there much more often. Well worth the trip.

Probably the least expensive Nicklaus course you could play. The black slag sand in the traps is extremely consistent whether wet or dry. If you come to Montana you must play this course.

The Old course has become my favorite course and cannot wait to go back. The plentiful black slag sand is outstanding to look at and to constantly play out of. The elevation compared to Wisconsin makes the ball fly like I didn’t think possible. All around an outstanding course to play. On a side note Nicklaus has because my favorite Designer after playing the Old Course, Kauai Lagoons, and The Bull. He is able to incorporate the landscape and skill level of different players like no one else.

A "Top 50 course you can play" in Montana. This is one tough course. It is very long and lots of uphill shots that take the distance out of your drives. The black sand in the traps is different. A great area to see Montana history.
