Nothing but 5 stars for everything about the course itself.
Where they let you down is in the attitude of the staff (they come across as though YOU should be grateful to THEM for being there and doing their jobs), and pace of play.
You won't see a ranger for 12 holes - and will have been waiting on the group in front of you all day - and then, once the logjam breaks at 12-13-14, you have a half a hole in front of you and they arrive to harass you to speed it up. Once you've rushed your shots in order to comply, you're back to waiting on the tee box at 15.

Pace of play not the fault of the course. People pay a lot and they want their moneys worth. No matter who suffers. Lose a ball drop and move on.

A must play

One of the most beautiful courses I've played.

Greatest course in Michigan, and that's saying a lot! Fabulous in every way.

Played the course for the first time in June 2013 on a beautiful day. It is a bit out of the way (about one hour from Traverse City) but well worth the drive. I imagine that this course could be considered a "Pebble Beach light" because of the spectacular views of Lake Michigan from most of the holes. The course was in mint condition, the greens were fast and true and the holes, while challenging were not punishing. It is the course that will set the standard for me for all other courses that I play the rest of my life.

Course was in great condition, beautiful views, and played wonderfully. Where I was let down was by the staff. Our group was constantly being harassed about pace of play while there was two open holes behind us. Really felt like most of the Marshals were bitter that they had to be out there. Awesome course, but I will seriously think twice about dropping $200 for that kind of treatment again...

Best public course in Michigan. Spectacular views, excellent conditions, and friendly staff. Only complaint was the 19th hole where they needed another 1-2 waitresses to manage the number of tables inside and on the porch.

Spectacular views! Very playable from 6700 yards...looked a lot tougher when glancing over the course from the clubhouse. Greens are big with a lot of breaks that are deceiving.
