Red Tail - Nov 18th late season and a small drop in price lured us to this self-described top course. Top 3, top 10? definitely in the top 50 massachusetts courses. Maybe i'm biased because i didn't really like this course when i played it before...in early summer 6 or 7 years ago when everyone was raving about it. Yes thats 6 or 7 years ago and this is the 1st time back, only reason back was that my playing partners have never played it. The day was warm and overcast and the course was quiet except for the golfers on it, one guy in a tractor made up the grounds crew this day, he was blowing the leaves off the 4th hole's elevated tee, the area below the tee where no one should be hitting it, meanwhile the leave drifts in the fairways and traps were left alone...I know these guys need a day off but for $65 and the end of the season eniment with maybe 4-5 months off you think they'd get them out there working. I learned a new word at the course "Tee-Master" not starter or ranger its the Tee-Master here..what an honor, the things we can look forward to in retirement. Fall golf can be tough especially when you lose a ball in the leaves...however these leaves should not come into play on the fairway unless its a windy day or um oh yeah... you say the heck with taking care of the course. Nevermind that your patrons are still paynig $65, what's that noise off in the distance ? yeah thats Shaker and Cyprian Keyes leave sucker cleaning off their fairways and traps... I will be back to this course..they didn't have any logo-balls in stock so if i'm in the neighborhood i might swing in . The course is nice and it deserves 3-4 stars, the greens are challenging and top-notch for difficulty but the edges are getting ruined by cart traffic, this is areas off the tees on the sides by the greens and areas where they direct carts off the fairways..they need to fix alot of little things here..hence the top fifty rating, which by the way isn't a bad thing in massachusetts. I see i'm the 1st to dog this track here, I played 102 rounds this year at 95 different courses so i see alot, i just think this place in hyped up

Played Red Tail for the first time and it was a first rate experience. The course was in excellent condition from tee to green. The layout was fantastic. Challenging course that was worth the high price of the greens fees.
