Opened to critical acclaim in 1992, Oak Harbor has done nothing but improve ever since. Golf Digest gave it a nomination for "America's Best New Course of 1992" and with good reason. The Lee Schmitt design is Pete Dye inspired. Schmitt makes good use of railroad ties and bulkheads around the many bayou waterways that intersect the layout. The course is a worthy adversary to even scratch golfers from the "tips," but play a manageable 6,261 yards from the regular men's tees. Sound strategy is always a premium on this championship layout. Danger lurks in the form of water that comes into play on 12 of the holes.

Oak Harbor has new ownership and the course is getting some face lifts. The greens have always been top shape, now the sand traps are looking good, the have sand in them. I guess the tee boxes will be next, I hope. Really excited about the improvements. Love this course.

Great smooth greens, easy pace of play on a Thursday at 9:30. Helpful staff. Water is in play everywhere.

I caught them in an aeration. Course well maintained but Greens very slow. Water in play on 80% of holes. A nice play.
