This course features rolling hills and plenty of trees that come into play on several holes, mostly in forcing a blind tee shot. This makes for a very challenging golf course. I have no real qualms with these blind shots as they do add character and strategy.
However, combine these features with the fact that this course has but 1 yardage marker per hole, frustration ensues. I spoke to an employee following the round to ask why there were no 200 or 100 yard markers. He said the committee just voted to REMOVE markers. I'm not a fan of that at all, and certainly cost me few strokes.
The lack of yardage markers multiplied by the blind shots took a great deal of pleasure out of this round. If I have to shoot over a row of trees, fine, bring it on. But if you ask me to shoot over those trees and don't tell me how far to carry the ball.... I feel like you're setting me up for failure. And being mean.
The course seems to be cramped, with tee boxes within a short toss of a golf ball from the previous green. The signage of the cart path is often confusing/poorly marked as well. The employee told us how to get from the second to third holes. This was greatly helpful, but signage should be self explanatory. Also, I would advise driving ahead to see where in the world the fairway opens up as you can't see much on a few of the holes.
The staff was very friendly, taking a few minutes to explain the route on the cart path to take to get from the second to the third holes, pointing out the driving range, chipping greens, clubhouse, et al. The greens beautiful and high quality.
Despite all of the criticisms, this course is definitely worth checking out for the right price.
