Interestingly, this course began as a 9-hole layout in 1917 and was founded by Fred Clifford Clarke — the same Baseball Hall of Famer Fred Clarke who helped the Pittsburgh Pirates win the 1909 World Series. Today, this is a full 18-hole course located on the extreme southwestern edge of the city of Winfield.
