Among the most exclusive private clubs in north Scottsdale, Troon CC is a Jay Morrish/Tom Weiskopf design that opened in 1986. The name references Weiskopf's 1973 Open Championship victory at Royal Troon. The fairways and greens roll over desert landscape at about 2,400 feet above sea level.
Since opening in 1986, Troon has been ranked among the top 100 golf courses in the world, and has also earned Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary status. This is a private country club open only to members and their invited guests.
