Colbert Hills Golf Course
5200 Colbert Hills Dr
Manhattan, KS 66503-9867, United States
Manhattan, KS 66503-9867, United States

This very highly-regarded prairie-links layout is home to the Kansas State University men's and women's golf teams, and was a co-design between Champions Tour golfer Jim Colbert (a KSU alumnus) and architect Jeffrey Brauer. Colbert is quoted as saying, "God built about 14 of the holes, and we built about four of them. We hope you can't tell the difference."
Shared architecture credit aside, the course is a notoriously tough one; the aptly-named "Black and Blue" tees are rated at 76.5 with a daunting 141 slope. 92 bunkers are in play, including five purple sand bunkers and three waste areas. Two ponds and several creeks bisect the Championship Course.
Colbert and Brauer wound the course through the Flint Hills near Manhattan without leveling or disturbing the landscape. As a result, Audubon International Research named Colbert Hills a "Silver Signature Course" because strict environmental guidelines were followed during construction.
The 10.5-acre practice facility includes a practice bunker, zoysia fairway, fescue rough, and an L93 bent-grass green, while a par-3 executive course is also available.
The standard rates (with cart) are $65 Sundays through Thursdays and $80 on Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays. Special rates are offered to KSU students, alumni, staff, and faculty, as well as for Manhattan residents and active-duty military members. Discounts are also available for twilight and shoulder-season play.

Beautiful setting for a golf course. We played on a Friday at noon and had a private course for 16 holes so we set our own pace (2some played in 3.5 hr). Course is challenging, target golf. Don't hit driver on every hole
