This 36-hole facility is the home of the University of Kansas men's and women's golf teams. The general public is welcome at the 18-hole Championship course, which was designed by architect Bob Dunning and consists of the "Jayhawk" and "Quail Creek" nines. The public course at Alvamar is often ranked among the top 100 public-access courses in the United States.
The standard rates are $45 weekdays and $55 weekends; senior, student, 9-hole, and sliding twilight rates are available.

Alvamar also has a private club with their own 18-hole "Members Course" located at 1809 Crossgate Drive (785.842.2929). At the private club, guests are welcome only with a member and only four times per year. The course was co-designed between Bob Dunning, Mel Anderson, and former PGA Tour player Phil Rodgers. The two nines there are called "Sunflower" and "Hidden Valley."
