This Ron Kern design opened in 2000 and runs over 218 acres of rolling terrain northeast of Indianapolis. Marketing hype aside, this really is one of the most notable public-access courses in Indiana. Six tee-boxes are available, stretching the course from 4,562 yards (among the shortest in the state) to 7,754 yards -- the longest in the state.

But the name suggests punishment for wayward shots; acres of sand are the chief hazard here -- particularly at 17, where a green rests on a knoll surrounded by what appears to be an ocean of sand. Bunkers aside, this course has received a *long* string of very favorable reviews and praise from the major golf publications, including praise from Golf Digest Woman and the erstwhile Golf For Women magazine.
