This David McLay Kidd design lies on a large, sandy plateau above the Columbia River in north-central Washington state. Scheduled to open on August 1, 2014, the course and site are already drawing favorable comparisons to Bandon Dunes in Oregon and Chambers Bay near Tacoma.

And similar to the aforementioned courses, Gamble Sands is a walkable course with no surrounding housing — or cart paths. In designing the course, Kidd imported no materials; he used only the native grasses and sand.
