Located on the old Fort Benjamin Harrison, it seems appropriate that an Indiana architect (Pete Dye) would be the one to lay out this course, which plays to 7,148 yards (par 72) from the tips and 5,045 yards from the front. This part of 'Fort Ben' is noted for the gorgeous woods and rolling terrain, and is well-regarded amongst golfers in Indiana; many charity and corporate outings take place here.
Given the course's history as an Army post, it is appropriate that military personnel receive reduced greens fees here.

loved playing this course especially in the fall when the trees were turning brilliant colors.

Great course and stay and play deal, $120 overnight stay with golf. Course long but fair, loved it.

Great Pete Dye layout. Love the course design. Maintenance was a little sub-par, probably due to very dry conditions (partner said it was the worst condition he had seen it in). But overall very nice value for a good course.

the course was in good shape for the time of year(early)a bit pricey, probably won't play it again. A lot of options around for less money. Glad to see they discount Military retirees.

For a state park it is a bit high in price
I know it is a show place But for the hard working man and lady it is a cost we don't need when their are other golf corurses to play that is just as good for a lot less money.

The Fort golf course is a very scenic course but doesn’t make up for the poor shape the course is in, pace of play was horrendous (and I played on a weekday) the staff had a personality of a employee that just didn’t want to be there. I would strongly recommend saving your money or playing a different course while in Indy.

The Good: Excellent Pete Dye and Tim Liddy design just east of Indianapolis is on-site at an old Army base. The Fort proves that a course does not need extravagant water hazards or gimmicks to be a fun place to play as there are minimal water hazards throughout the tree-lined, hilly layout. Spectacular course conditions, a great practice facility, and very nice off-course amenities including excellent lodging accommodations.
The Bad: The service does not match the quality of course. The greens are usually in excellent condition; however they can be so slick that they can be extremely difficult. GPS on the carts would be a nice addition.
The Verdict: For good old-fashioned golf, The Fort is perhaps the best yard-for-yard public facility in the entire state of Indiana. The course conditions and overall golf experience are rivaled by very few. Make sure that you bring a lot of balls as the trees seem to gobble them up.
Best Hole: The Par 3 5th hole is arguably the best Par 3 in the entire state of Indiana. You must avoid the treacherous bunker on the right as it has a 4-5 foot lip that turns a good front nine into a nightmare.

The Fort is a great course that is a little overpriced, but a great track. It can be a little slow on weekends, but gives you plenty of time to find your ball. It is one of my favorite courses to play.
