It took a little convincing, but architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed the course here, which only has 55 acres of maintained turfgrass. As with many Coore & Crenshaw courses, they took care to disturb as little of the natural terrain and features as possible, while providing natural waste bunkers and hazards that appear to be "blown out" naturally. Although this course is located on a mountain, Coore and Crenshaw made certain that the course would be "walkable."

This course is open only to members and their invited guests. It lies between Carson City and Lake Tahoe, south of U.S. Highway 50 and Clear Creek Rd, within Douglas County.
