This public-access course opened in 1971 with nine holes; the second nine debuted in 1991, along with a new clubhouse. The course is owned and operated by the Hamilton County Conservation Board and is located about an hour north of Des Moines, then about ten miles west of Interstate 35.

The standard walking rates are $19 weekdays and $23 weekends (carts are $24). The course is now part of the Iowa Golf Trail marketing consortium, so stay-and-play packages are also available.
