Architect Tripp Davis and PGA Tour star Justin Leonard co-designed this course, which is located along the shores of Lake Lewisville.
In keeping with the authenticity of the land, Davis and Leonard crafted a course design that is representative of classic American golf. From naturally formed bunkers and native grasses, to strategically designed holes that leverage varying wind conditions, the architects endeavored to create a course with exquisite balance.
Old American possesses substance – a true golfer’s course. Where strategic play is necessary, it is a course that intrigues the golfer with ever changing elements that create a different experience each time it is played.
Carts, use of the practice grounds as well as on-course comfort stations filled with water, soda, gatorade, snacks, and Old American's Signature snacks are included in your fee.

A very demanding course. Despite the sheer number of bunkers, I ended up in more sand at The Tribute across the street (great course by the way). The cart paths are really dusty and there wasn't a beverage cart--my throat is still dry. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my round.

Most difficult course I have ever played, and I have played over 20 in Myrtle Beach, Doral in Florida, and over 100 in Texas. If you like sand, narrow landing areas, you will like this course. The greens rolled true and pure, like Doral.

Difficult course. Friendly staff and nice clubhouse. Terribly pretentious course. "Distressed granite" cart paths translates to dirt for the normal golfer. Two major flaws with the current layout: 1) restrooms are scarce on the course and the turn does not happen near the clubhouse, 2) not a single ball washer on the course. I found this to be the biggest annoyance.
Negatives aside, the course was in excellent shape. The GPS in the carts was very helpful and offered more features than most others I've seen. I particularly enjoyed the flyover for each hole.

Okay, not great. But played it in the winter with thin fairways. We'll try it again this summer.

Great track on Lake Lewisville. Very challenging and very scenic. Played it a little too early however, as the greens weren't matured. This will be an awesome course in a year+ when the greens come in.

Green Fee's over the top ....a nice course, but not that good.
I won't be rushing to play it again .....give me The Tribute next door anyday

I loved it. The cours is incredible. It chanllenges even the best player, and their imagination. The greens are excellent. The roll well, and hold when they need to when you hit the right shot. All in all, I wish I had the $$ to play there all the time. Don't miss the opportunity if you get the chance.
