Oakwood Country Club
1067 US Highway 6
Coal Valley, IL 61240-9448, United States

While the club formed in 1923, construction of Interstate 74 forced the members to purchase this site in Coal Valley in 1962. The world-famous architect Pete Dye designed the course, which debuted on May 21, 1967 and features tough par-4s, some reachable par-5s, and challenging greens. The club undertook significant changes in the late 1970s, when they hosted what is now the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic for 24 years; the tees were moved back, bunkers were added, and the practice facility completely rebuilt.
