Harborside International Golf Center

Chicago, IL 60628-3800, United States

This course caused a sensation when the first 18 holes ("Port Course") opened in 1995; it was built basically over a waste site that badly needed redevelopment. Dick Nugent designed all 36 holes here (the other 18 is called the "Starboard Course"), rated 4.5 stars by Golf Digest. Similarly, when Ben Crenshaw played here in 2002, he compared Harborside to Muirfield in Scotland. Golfweek Magazine tagged Harborside as the third best municipal course in the nation.

The site is just 16 minutes from the Loop, just off the Bishop Ford Expressway (Interstate 94) at the 111th Street exit (66A). The rates are $82 weekdays and $95 weekends, although a $57 twilight rate is available after 3:30 p.m.

I was in Chicago on vacation & played Starboard on June 30, 2015. Great location from downtown. Greens were true and fast. Course in great shape even with all of the recent rain. Nice layout Staff was extremely friendly.

Highest point in Chicago. Your in for an a** whippin' if you play on a windy day.

Nice course once you get there. Coming from outside the city, it is pain to get to from almost any direction. If you live in the city or nearby, it's probably the best public course within easy driving distance.

Maintenance is very good, but only 4 stars as the bunkers were packed, not very fluffed. A lot of mid season wear on some fairways. The rest of the course is in very good shape. The greens were some of the best I played, putts rolled true and fast.

Rangers passed every couple holes to ensure pace of play.

The scenery of Lake Calumet is nice, and the occasional view of the city skyline, other than that you are looking out at industrial surroundings.

Nice practice facility.

Bev cart service was pretty good.

2 restroom facilities across 18 holes, however there are placed were you pass by them 2 or 3 times per 9 holes. Water is only available at the locations.

Nice club house to add up the scores after the round.

Played the Port Course on a windy day and had thought it was a very fair course for a high handicapper like myself. Got a few tee times through GolfNow.com for $40 each. Great deal!!!

Great track I was impressed, course layed out with ups and downs and a test on windy days in Chicago. In good shape for this time of year.

Only con-I expected the sand traps to be in better condition on a course like this.
