Bull Valley opened in 1988 with a design by Dick Nugent and has received critical acclaim, even from jaded critics like Golf Digest's Ron Whitten. The course plays over a former dairy farm with both fen meadow and wet prairie characteristics. In 2010, they hosted both U.S. Open qualifying and the Chicago District Golf Association's annual amateur championship.
This private club is open only to members and their invited guests, although they do occasionally host outside corporate and charity golf events.

A beautiful course to play but without a doubt the most physically difficult course I have played. There are lots of elevations where carts can not to drive to and with narrow fairways, you are always looking for your ball in the rough. A "Fore Caddy" is almost a necessity. I have played it twice and will gladly accept another invitation (private) to play. The second time was a better experience knowing the course a little better. The first time I was so tired I had trouble figuring out the "skins" at the nineteenth hole.

What a surprise. I never expected such a quality course. Unfortunately my game wasnt upto the challenge, but this is a great layout. The fairways were soft and the rough dry anmd hard. Wayward shots bounced further into trouble. Greens were a little firm but very very quick

Golf Digest rated this course No. 30 on it's Hardest Courses in America list. They were not joking. This course is an excellent test of your game, although it is currently private so you need to know a member or buy a corporate limited membership.
