RedTail GC has been rated 4 stars by Golf Digest, 4.5 stars by Chicagoland Golf, and is usually considered one of the best public-access courses in the state of Illinois. This 1992 Roger Packard design features bent-grass tees, greens, and fairways; two island greens, and many natural wetlands.

The non-resident peak-season rates (with cart) are $39 on weekdays, then $65 on weekends. Resident, twilight, junior, senior, and shoulder-season rates are all lower. Cart rental is required on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, although club members are permitted to walk after 3:00 p.m. Corporate gatherings and groups can also be accommodated.

Redtail is not a private course. It is a pay for play course. Tough course, has bent grass fairways. Lot of natural swampy woodlands. well maintained.
