Grand View is often referred to by locals as "The Monster on the Mon" for its location above the Monogahelea River, despite the relatively short length. Ferdinand Garbin designed this challenging layout, which opened in 1996 atop Matta's Hill and plays through 160 acres of mature woodland hilltop. Views from the course include the Mon valley, including the Edgar Thompson facility — the first and last major steel mill in western Pennsylvania. Shotmaking is key here, given the topography and elevation changes.

Bent grass greens and tees have been built in compliance to USGA's tri-layer specification. A large practice range and a 4,100 sq-ft putting green are also available. This distinctive, 18 hole, Par 70, 6,111 yard layout gracefully winds its way along tree-lined fairways and undulating greens atop Matta's Hill.

The peak-season rates with a cart are $40 on weekdays, then $50 on weekends and holidays. Junior, senior, 9-hole, twilight, winter, and shoulder-season rates are available, as are memberships.

Tough course, a lot a bad reviews probably come from golfers expecting to whip out the driver on every tee box. This is a smart golfers course. You have to play to a spot. Tons of trouble everywhere. The views are spectacular and the course is well maintained. GPS carts.
