Both courses at Fort Jackson are the best value and playing environment you can get in Columbia, SC. The staff is great, the course has more water coolers on it than any course in the city and ball cleaners on every hole. The maintenance on the course is on-going all of the time and you never see litter on the courses. Walking is the preferred way to play these courses and it is a joy to play there. The pace of play can slow down from time-to-time but that is because a lot of military people go there to play. Many are older and disabled. If you ever have a chance to be at the course when the Purple Heart Association has their tournaments, you will swell with pride seeing the medal recipients prepare to play golf. Many of the players are out there with horrible wounds and prosthetic's from their combat experiences but you will not hear anybody playing ask for special accommodations. They are there to compete and they do it with as much vigor and energy as any of us. I am retired Air Force but always proud to play at Fort Jackson and always will be.

Great 36 hole lay out and the best walking course ever. Plenty of benches, shelters, and clean water coolers. On some days when you hear light machine gun fire in the background you are reminded of the sacrifices people have made and are making to allow us the freedom to play golf. If you are on the course at 4:00 revelry is played and all stop, remove hats and remain still until the music stops. Try to make a t time so you are on the course during this time, it makes you forget all of your bad shots.

Great course, great hospitality, slow play in the afternoon. I would play this course again and again. It was a beautiful day in November so everyone came out is why it was so slow that day. Any other time the club would be a full 5 star rating.
