Donald Trump purchased the former Lowes Island Golf Club, then invested roughly $18 million to completely reconstruct both courses and the club's facilities. Two very challenging courses are here:

SIGNATURE COURSE:
Golf Digest included this layout on their list of best new private courses after it opened in 1994. Lakes and marshes are in play, as are small-but-deep bunkers. Mr. Trump himself described it as tougher than nearby Congressional Country Club. He might be right; from the Gold tees, the course rating is 77.2 with a daunting 147 slope. The lead architect on the rebuild was Tom Fazio, but Trump was also deeply involved in the layout, slopes, the choice of Penlinks Bent grass, and even the green-to-tee distances.

RIVER COURSE:
As the name suggests, portions of this attractive course run alongside the Potomac River. In fact, water is in play on ten of the 18 holes. With wind always a factor due to Arthur Hills' relatively open design, this adds to the challenge. With the Gold tees rated at 75.4 and a 145 slope, this course is certainly no pushover, either.
