Two courses are located at this hotel and are shared with a resident society, Hawkstone Park Golf Club.
The Hawkstone Course was established in 1920, and the tremendous layout was where a young Sandy Lyle cut his golfing teeth. The manicured fairways are lined with towering oak and birch, and while the awesome surroundings may be a distraction, the 6,497 yard track has some superb holes that require maximum attention. The best are around the turn, where dramatic holes include the 12th, where the moat of the ruined castle has been cleverly incorporated.
The Championship golf course was designed by former Ryder Captain and player, Brian Huggett. It was opened in 1995 and provides golfers with a challenging test. As with the Hawkstone this is also a parkland course but with many American style features such as oval-shaped tees, rolling fairways and most notably the expanses of threatening water.

The hawkstone is a great course with some very tough holes as well as some where you can open your shoulders and give it a belt! No 2 holes are the same so plenty of variety and it was in fine condition today. The greens were very slick and seeemed to keep rolling forever. Highly recommended. I preferred this to the Championship course which was not very interesting on the front 9 with too many holes just going alongside each other in different directions. Tha back 9 was better.

Championship course bunkers were a disgrace (no sand and not raked), greens good, layout good. Hawkstone was superb; fabulous scenery and layout, greens and bunkers in excellent condition - a delight which would bring me back. How can the two courses be so differently cared for? Pro shop and bars very expensive.

hawkstone course is superior to the championship course.much better to look at but I prefer tree lined courses to the man made very open courses that the championship course is.the hotel is okay for a short stay but I felt it needs a makeover and a lick of paint.

On my first, very memorable, visit (some 27 years ago) I dislocated my left wrist making the second shot, over the ravine, onto the 4th. Green. Played it badly this ocassion also! Ha! Ha! Having joined a reunion party, of some 37 players, we took the two days golf over he Hawkstone, dinner, bed and breakfast tarrif, and came away relatively unscathered, more mental. The greens were great, my kind, and the course, for the time of year, was surprisingly dry and well kept. Including the Hotel and facilities great also. Overall this is reflected in the scoring....! Would definitely go back again...!

I took 24 ladies on our Captains Weekend. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the courses and its challenges. Not so keen on part of the Championship course, as some holes are very tight against each other, but it changes back 9 to be a testy game round lots of water. Brilliant. Hawkstone awesome all the way round - blind holes could do with some notices that inform you to wait for the bell!

Played this course &stayed in hotel. Went with golf society. B&B, evening meal very nice. The Championship course is a great layout not as well looked after than the Hawkstone course greens half the pace too! The Hawkstone course is excellent well maintained greens fast and true. The eleventh hole has the Follies to the right as a backdrop. Really enjoyed my time there would definitly go back.
