Oak Tree Golf Course
4710 E US Highway 40
Plainfield, IN 46168-8024, United States

317.839.6205
Located on U.S. Highway 40, just ten minutes west of Indianapolis International Airport, Oak Tree Golf Course is an older Pete Dye design dating to 1975, so it predates Dye's more famous layouts. In fact, there are numerous parallel fairways here, something that is generally frowned upon in modern-day golf architecture.

The public is welcome; the walking rates are $19 weekdays and $23 weekends (carts are $14). The course also regularly hosts group and corporate golf outings.

I found a great rate through the website and it was well worth it no matter how things went (poorly for my rusty swing). The greens have Pete Dye written all over them, but much of the rest was clearly by Pete Dye before Pete Dye was Pete Dye. The course was mostly in decent shape, but the the troubled spots were very troubled. Several of the tee boxes need to be completely re-sodded. The course is pretty for what you might expect and the staff is friendly.
