Although Veterans GC closed at the end of the 2013 season, the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tomah are seeking outside business people to operate the 9-hole course. Federal law prohibits the VA or volunteers from staffing the clubhouse or collecting green fees. The general opinion of VA patients and employees has been that the golf course is an asset — even by those who don't play the game.

The course originally opened in 1960. The standard 9-hole walking rates are $9 on weekdays, then $10 on weekends and holidays. The 18-hole walking rates are $16 and $17, respectively. Seniors, students, and active-duty military receive various discounts. Eight carts are available for rental.
