Gary Player designed all 27 holes at this semi-private club; the Canyon, Ranch, and Vineyard nines are pretty much as their respective names advertise.
The public is welcome here; the daily fees for non-residents are $99 Mondays through Thursdays, $119 Fridays, and $139 weekends and holidays. Residents of San Diego county receive roughly a 40% discount when booking a tee-time within seven days.

Played these courses in a tournament. Played the Meadows (renamed the Vineyard) and the Canyon courses. The comments are about right. Enjoyed the play.

Found this course on Groupgolfer.com for $40 with cart. Since I'm in the area once a month, tend to look for decent courses on group golfer. Tough course, especially the Canyon 9, where there is a lot of elevated tees and tight landing areas. Really enjoyed the views. Nice course and would probably play again if I found a similar deal.

Great mountain course, somewhat difficult. Excellent value for twilight rates, course was in fantastic shape. Would definitely recommend playing here.

Steele Canyon is a Gary Player designed course with 3 nines. From what I know from his designs, he tries to give golfers a decent amount of landing area, and this is true of Steele Canyon. This doesn't mean there is no trouble! There are plenty of lost ball hazards, water, bunkers, and OB, but it just doesn't suffocate you from the tee box. Hit a really bad shot, and you'll pay. Hit a good miss, and you should be fine. The layout is really fun and interesting, and the surrounding canyons and hills makes for a scenic experience. I really enjoyed playing here and could play here everyday. I don't think there is a bad hole out here. Very pretty and highly recommended. Unfortunately, it's not a walkable course.
