While the club dates to 1929, this course opened in 1947 over 103 acres. It is located at the southeast corner of Highway 22 and Churchill Road, 40 minutes south of central Auckland and only eight minutes from State Highway 1 at Mercer. The mature 18 hole course is set in the fertile Franklin area, with volcanic, free-draining soil, that means the course is rarely closed. Areas of native bush on the course attract native pigeons, which are regularly seen on the course.

The club has a two storey clubhouse, with good standard men's and women's facilities.
