This parkland-style course debuted in 1914 near the boundary of the National Trust's Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest. The course plays from 5,298 to 6,628 yards. Conditions are helped by the sand and gravel sub-soils, which permit good drainage year-round.

Visitors and societies are welcome; rates vary by season.

This is a tough track to play Off White Tees when the course is set up for a regional qualifier. Some of the Tee shots needed to carry 170-200 yards of rough before reaching the fairway and coupled with some narrow fairways meant that the course was a difficult but fair test of golf for a modest 18 handicaper like myself. A great challenge.

The pace of play was WOEFUL but that was ALL down to our society....we have some incredibly slow golfers...it was my misfortune...through luck of the draw to be behind them!!Let's be honest over 4.5hrs on a cold winters day is no fun....regardless of playing well or not!!!!
