Colonial Charters Golf Club
301 Charter Drive
Longs, SC 29568, United States

843.399.4653
The former Palmetto Greens Golf Club returned to its original name of Colonial Charters Golf Club in August 2013.

This wooded course features a lot of pine trees that can alter your shots. Its fairways are fairly wide and there is water in play on approximately half the holes. The most difficult hole, rated by the readers of the "Sun News," is #18, a 424-yard, par 4, featuring a dogleg right fairway, and requiring an uphill tee shot into the wind. The downhill approach shot will traverse a valley and onto an elevated green that is protected by deep sand bunkers on the front and right sides and a waste area off to the left.

I guess you get what you pay for - it was very reasonably priced. I gave it two stars because of the reasonable price but the greens were the worst on which I have ever personally played (even in the dead of winter in northern states). The fairways were also terrible, going from rock hard (which was the norm) to sopping wet in some places. When I say hard I mean you couldn't make a divot - the clubs just bounced. It is too bad because the course has some nice holes and several that would be tough even without the unputtable greens and concrete fairways. I would never go there again.

Played it for the first time today an it was an better than anticipated experience. They have totally remodeled the clubhouse and pro shop and everything is brand spanking new. The course itself was OK but they really need to cut the roughs back a bit more as we spent a lot of time looking for balls that were barely off the fairways. Some of the greens had some rough spots but were generally pretty good. The tee box for the last par 3 on the front is right next to someone's front yard so that was a bit of a strange golfing experience. You have to drive a bit to get to the 10th hole and the back is much less housing developed than the front so there's not much chance of finding balls after a really bad left or right hit. No after round drinks yet as they are still in need of a liquor license. If you can get a deal on a tee time I would give this place a shot.

I payed $12 on Golf Now.well worth the money . the shape of the coarse was'nt that great, but it was a fun place to play for the money. A lot of water and little landing areas. A target golf coarse.

This is a course that is a work in progress. In time I think it is going to be a very pretty course. I have played it several times and really enjoyed it. Check it out. I think you will like it. The staff is polite and wants your round to be enjoyable.
