Woodlands Golf Course
2309 Ridge Rd
Baltimore, MD 21244, United States

410-887-1349
The Woodlands takes golfers on a scenic journey through a world of tall, hardwood trees that guard the lush bentgrass fairways and large, undulating greens of the course's enjoyable and challenging 18 holes.

Designed by renowned golf course architect Lindsay Ervin, The Woodlands opened in 1998 to critical acclaim. Ervin himself said The Woodlands "truly ranks as my best design" and Washington Golf Monthly called it "the best public course in the Baltimore suburbs." Golf Digest has rated The Woodlands a "Four Star Places to Play Award Winner."

Woodlands is a nice change of pace to sister course Diamond Ridge, but it's not nearly as good of a deal. Further, many decent shots were penalized, as most of the greens were severely crowned. 7 yards off target was the same as 30 yards off target, in some cases. Lots of undulation, too, so don't expect many flat lies. For my game, that's not fun.

On the positive side, it felt very private/enclosed, it's not as crowded as DRidge, the layout was certainly interesting, and it's in good shape.

Good for a rare challenge or change of pace, but not my choice for most rounds.

Pace of play was a problem. Marshall's need to do a better job of policing the course!
