Although golf has been played here since 1897, the East Course received its first formal design from Herbert Fowler in 1919. Then during the 1930s, J.H. Taylor designed the West course.

Visitors are welcome; the standard walking rates are £77/round or £99/day Sundays through Fridays, then £79/round or £105/day on Saturdays. Discounts are available for county card-holders, guests of member, members of reciprocal clubs, and for shoulder-season and twilight play.

This was an excellent experience. Great welcome and it is a lovely and challenging course in very good condition.
The only downside was that we played after a competition at the club which meant our round (for a 2-ball) extended to over 4 1/2 hours.
In any case it would be thoroughly recommended to experience this great test of golf.

The East has to be one of the best 18 hole links course in the country, its certainly the best in the west country, the West course is also very highly rated, worth playing both if you get the chance, tremendous value for money.
Superb location and hospitality.

What a stunning couple of courses, both the East and West are a joy to play. We were very fortunate with the weather although there was still a stiff breeze as you would expect but the courses still played very fair. also the hospitality of the club was second to none and although it's a little out of the way if you have the chance to play Saunton, take it.

Played the East course and it is very challenging, as a true links should be! Very welcoming to visitors.

A few blind holes but a very good course, difficult in high wind which we had on the day. Will play again.
  Robin Basher - 5/30/11
Two great links courses. Need to be played with the wind howling in order to see it at its best.
