Deer Valley opened in 1999 with eighteen holes that include rolling terrain and 100-foot-plus elevation changes, such as at the par-5 13th - that hole was featured on the cover of the Wisconsin State Journal's 2000 Golf Guide. Since the opening, a third nine ("Valley") has been added.

The walking rates are $25 weekdays and $28 weekends, although a variety of specials and twilight discounts are available.

Barneveld might be known most for the devastating tornado that ripped through town in 1984 and killed nine people. Today, of course, the circumstances are happier.
