This seaside course opened with nine holes in 1912, then was extended to 18 holes during the 1930s by the noted architect Harry Colt. The course is owned and operated by Sefton Council, so it is very much open to the public. The private club known as "Park Golf Club" is also resident here.

The standard walking rates are £15 on weekdays, then £17 on weekends and bank holidays. Junior, intermediate, and twilight rates are available, as are season passes.
